AFRICA

Africa is the third-largest continent, following Asia and America. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Indian Ocean to the east. The Mediterranean Sea separates it from Europe to the north; the point where the two continents are closest is the Strait of Gibraltar, which is 14.4 km wide. The Red Sea to the east separates it from the Arabian Peninsula, and it's connected to Asia through the Isthmus of Suez in Egyptian territory. It covers an area of 30,272,922 km² (including 621,600 km² of islands), accounting for 20.4% of the world's land. Its population exceeds 1.3 billion, or 15% of the global population. The continent consists of 54 sovereign states, with one of them, Egypt, being transcontinental, as well as two states with limited recognition and two dependent territories.
